The NGM Open Call, managed by Microfluidics Innovation Hub, served to test the viability of a single entry point aimed at advancing microfluidic innovations in key areas of interest.
Nihan Atak of Joanneum Research presented results from NextGen Microfluidics at the conference microtas held in Montreal, Canada from 13-17 October 2024.
NextGenMicrofluidics was featured in the new BNN QUARTERLY (December 2022) with two articles about MIH. One article introduces MIH as a new BioNanoNet Association member (pages 32-33) and the other reports about the COMPAMED 2022.Â
Earlier this year, the NGM consortium met for the M36 Consortium Meeting at Inmold A/S in NivĂĄ, Denmark. An R&D company, Inmold develops smart process adaptations for established high-throughput fabrication methods, such as injection moulding and R2R replication. Their developed processes allow them to create new revolutionary products suitable for several fields of application. Inmold is the roll-2-roll upscaling partner in NGM in respect to replication in thermoplastics.

On 14 September 2023, NextGenMicrofluidics members Anja Haase (JR) and Maciej Skolimowski (Micronit) were invited to speak at the final dissemination event of the H2020 project PRIME entitled, “Microfluidics in their PRIME: Microfluidic Chips, Active Valves, Smart Sensors, and What Comes Next”. The event took place at TUtheSky on the campus of the Technical University of Vienna, where the consortium presented their results alongside others in the field of microfluidics.
At the top-floor location with panoramic views of Vienna, PRIME partners shared their results to invited members of the microfluidics community. Then, Anja Haase presented the project with her talk “NextGenMicrofluidics: Platform for upscaling of microfluidic chips on foil substrates”. Maciej Skolimowski presented “Automation and flow control in microfluidic devices – application examples in Organ-on-a-Chip and medical diagnostics systems”.
In addition, NGM project manager Clemens Wolf (BNN) briefly introduced the Advanced Microfluidics Initiative (AMI) during the networking session.
Take a look behind the scenes of an EU #H2020 project: the NextGenMicrofluidics (NGM) consortium toured partner TECNALIA Research & Innovation’s facilities in San Sebastián in October 2022, observing the technologies involved in their everyday work, including creating prototypes for 2 demo cases in our project: Cell Culture Devices for Pharmaceutical Testing and Sensors for Bio-Process Monitoring.
