UNS does the development of ion sensitive sensors for potassium. The membranes are doped with nanoparticles of metal oxides.
University of Split was founded in 1974. During almost 50 years it has become very important both scientific and teaching institution with about 20000 students and over 1000 employees. UNS hosts many disciplines such as chemical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, electrical and mechanical engineering, social sciences, kinesiology, humanities, health sciences and forensics.
UNS is a partner on a WP6 Demo Case 3 for development of a potassium ion sensitive sensor. Ions will be measured electrochemically in a potentiometric set up. The prepared membranes will be doped with nanoparticles of metal oxides. Nanoparticles will be used for increasing the selectivity of membranes as well as stretching linear response time and shortening rensponse time. Nanoparticles will be microwave synthesized and characterized on SEM and XRD for establishing particle size and crystal structure.
